Privacy Policy
In short: your portfolios never leave your iPhone. tickerfolio has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. To show prices, the app sends the tickerfolio data service only ticker symbols, currencies and search text — never quantities, purchase prices or portfolio values.
Data stored on your device
Your portfolios, transactions, the contents of files you import and your settings are stored only on your device. They are included in your device backup (for example iCloud Backup, if you use it), which is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. I have no access to any of this data.
Market data
When you enter an access key, the app requests prices, price history, exchange rates and search results
from the tickerfolio data service at tickerfolio.dmeight.com, run by me. Each request contains only:
- your access key,
- the ticker symbols, currencies or search text needed for that request (for example AAPL or Apple).
The app never sends quantities, purchase prices, transactions, portfolio names or values. Without an access key the app makes no such requests — portfolios, imports and transactions keep working, just without prices.
Service security
Like any web service, the data service collects standard technical data about requests, including the IP address, time, access key and request content. It is used only for security and troubleshooting and is never shared with anyone. IP addresses are deleted after 90 days at the latest; the rest of the data is deleted when access to the service is removed.
Market data providers
The data service obtains market data from third-party providers. Providers receive only the symbols needed to fetch the data — never your IP address, your access key or any information about you.
Files and sharing
- Files from your broker that you import are read on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Backup files you export go only where you choose to save or send them.
- Tapping a holding opens Apple's Stocks app, which is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Access keys
Your access key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. You can remove it at any time in the app's settings, and a key can be revoked on the service side.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
