simpleSTT transcribes audio and video files on iPhone and iPad with the speech-to-text model you choose — OpenAI, Google Gemini or ElevenLabs — using your own API key. Your audio goes straight from your device to that provider; there is no simpleSTT server in between.
API key
To transcribe, add an API key from OpenAI, Google (Gemini) or ElevenLabs in the app's Settings. You create the key in your account with that provider and pay the provider directly for what you use — usually a few cents per recording. The key is stored only on your device.
Files
- simpleSTT works with files — audio and video such as M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, MP4 and MOV. Open a file in the app or share it to simpleSTT from another app.
- Long recordings are split automatically and processed in parallel.
- Choose automatic language detection or a specific language; custom prompts help with vocabulary and formatting.
Your transcripts
Transcripts are stored on your device and can be searched in full. What the app sends and to whom is described in the privacy policy.
