simpleGRID

Help

simpleGRID divides a photo into a grid of equal squares on iPhone. Set the grid and the lines, then save one image with the grid or every tile as a separate file. Everything happens on your iPhone — no account, no internet connection, no tracking.

How it works

On the home screen tap Choose Photo or Take Photo. A project has three steps:

  1. Grid — set the number of columns and rows (1–40). Drag the grid on the photo to move it, and drag a corner to resize the squares. Touch and hold the photo to see it without the grid.
  2. Lines — thickness, opacity, color and an optional frame around the edge.
  3. Save — Single image (the photo with the grid) or All tiles (each square as a separate file, without lines), in JPEG, HEIC or PNG.

Projects save automatically and wait for you under Projects on the home screen.

Saving to Photos

On the Save step tap Save to Photos. To send the result elsewhere — AirDrop, Messages, Files and more — tap Share… instead. Location data (GPS) is always removed from saved files.

If simpleGRID can't save

simpleGRID needs permission to add photos to your library. Tap Open Settings in the message — or open Settings on your iPhone and find simpleGRID — then tap Photos and choose Add Photos Only. The app can only add photos; it never reads your library.

Where to find saved files

Saved files are dated when you save them, so in Photos they're at the end of your library, with your newest photos. Show in Photos on the screen after saving takes you there. Tiles are saved row by row, starting from the top left corner.

Why part of the photo is cut off

The grid is made of equal squares, and they always stay square. When the squares don't divide the photo evenly, a strip along the edge is cut off. With Fit to photo on, the grid is always as large as the photo allows — drag it to choose which part stays. The closer the numbers of columns and rows match the photo's proportions, the less is cut off.

Deleting a project

Touch and hold the project's thumbnail on the home screen and tap Delete Project. Deleting a project doesn't delete the photo from your library, and everything you've saved stays in Photos.

Language and appearance

Tap the gear on the home screen. In Settings choose the appearance — System, Light or Dark — and the language: English, Polish, German, Italian, Spanish or French. By default simpleGRID uses your iPhone's appearance and language.

Privacy

simpleGRID works offline and collects nothing — see the privacy policy.
